As part of the Chloë Lum & Yannick Desranleau exhibition, the MAC presents a round table on performative practices with the artists, Marie Eve Beaupré, curator of the collection at MAC, curator Maude Johnson, and artist and curator jake moore.

jake moore is an artist that works at the intersections of material, text and vocality. She considers her primary medium to be space; this idea expands the understanding of her artistic practice to include administrative projects, academic engagement, writing and other acts of building capacity as a sculptural method—one that changes the form and volume of public spaces in an active endeavour toward resonance. Her large-scale and materially loaded site exhibitions are sensorially driven, often using scent and sound, or their absence, as primary materials. She has exhibited throughout the lands presently known as Canada. Born on Treaty One Territory, moore currently lives and works between Tiohtiá:ke/Montréal, located on the unceded territory of the Kanien’kehá:ka Nation, and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, on Treaty Six Territory. She is a PhD candidate in Art History and Communication Studies at McGill University, and Assistant Professor/Director of University Art Galleries and Collection at the University of Saskatchewan.

Maude Johnson is an independent curator and writer who lives and works in Montréal. She holds an MA in art history from Concordia University and a BFA in art history from Université du Québec à Montréal. She is interested in the relationships between bodies, times and spaces, as she explores performative and curatorial practices. Her recent curating projects have been presented in the SIGHTINGS space of the Leonard & Bina Ellen Art Gallery (Montréal, 2016), at Artexte (Montréal, 2018) and at Critical Distance Centre for Curators (Toronto, 2018). Her writing has accompanied exhibition projects, at Galerie de l’UQAM, among others. A regular contributor to Espace art actuel and esse arts + opinions, she was the 2015 winner of the latter’s Young Critics Competition. She is the executive and curatorial assistant for MOMENTA | Biennale de l’image.
